Oh, the plates you will fill!

Oh, the plates you will fill!

The man turned 28 on the 28th this month!

My guess is that things could not have unfolded better what with Simbra kickin’ off his day with a massage, followed by a “clothes purge” (always feels good to unload STUFF on one’s birthday!), lunch at Sweet Tomatoes, fantastic bday cards, a Transformer balloon, homemade oatmeal creme pies, a nap, a short run, and, as a cherry on top of it all, the acceptance speech of the first black man to receive a presidential nomination.

Good day. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE!

You are an amazing person and gift to this family.

Relaxing on the cushy front lawn

This past weekend, Rae and I took a trip up to Nebraska to see the state capitol in Lincoln.  That makes state capitol number 9 on our quest to see them all!  It was a fantastic trip filled with so many wonderful experiences.  We always come away from the capitols with a newfound respect for our country and each individual state.  In the case of Nebraska, they are the only unicameral state government in the country, meaning they have a single legislative house (no divided house and senate), and no political party affiliations.  Very cool stuff.  When we first arrived at the capitol, we entered at the basement level and thought to ourselves that the place looked a bit drab.  But as soon as we walked up to the main level, we were forced to eat our words.  It was yet another beautiful example of unique and dynamic architecture and a stunning display of true “Nebraska-ness”.  The fact that you could take an elevator up 14 floors to see out across the miles of Nebraska farmland made it that much better.  And did you know that back when settlers were first arriving in Nebraska, there were absolutely NO trees?  Not a single one!  It was nothing but massive prairie.  So much so that it was said that a man on horseback would be lost in the prairie grasses they were so massive and thick.  Unbelievable trying to picture it when you’re staring at The University of Nebraska football stadium that holds 90,000 people and has been sold out every home game since 1963.  :)  But all in all, the trip was wonderful and the company fantastic.    - tim -
