Got home from work tonight and the temperature had cooled from the triple-digit temps we had grown accustomed to. So I took the opportunity Mother Nature had handed me and jumped on the bike for an evening ride. Wind was blowing south so I headed north, hoping to have the tailwind on the return. It was a fantastic August night to be out on the roads. I have to thank the Missouri Department of Transportation because for a small, but wonderful portion of my ride, there was fresh blacktop. It was .34 miles of cycling nirvana.
Open roads with the sun setting and just the sounds of cicadas and my chain whirring. It was a beautiful summer night in the Show Me State. It gave me the opportunity to meditate a little on where all the Bozos are right now and I played out little scenes in my head, imagining what everyone was doing as I passed by herds of cows and watched as deer jumped through the fields of corn. Perspective is a beautiful thing, and I’m so very glad that I was able to pause tonight to truly enjoy it. You are amazing, dear family. I look forward to hearing about your “moments of zen.” :)
